Who is behind tobecited?
tobecited is an independent product that checks whether ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity recommend your website — or a competitor instead — and returns the specific fixes. It is operated from Spain, in the European Union. There is no sales team: you run a check, you read the report, you decide what to change.
Why we built it
Search used to end on a results page you could inspect. A growing share of buyers now ask an assistant instead and act on the single answer they get back. If the model names three competitors and never mentions you, nothing tells you: there is no position to look up, no console that reports it, no drop in a chart. The loss is real and completely invisible.
That gap turned out to be measurable. You can ask the same assistants the same buyer questions your customers ask, on a schedule, and write down what comes back. That is the whole idea behind tobecited, and everything else in the product exists to make those answers comparable over time.
How we measure
We ask the four assistants the questions your buyers actually type, in the language and market you sell in, and we record the raw answers: whether you were named, who was named instead, in what order, and in what tone. Every number in the report traces back to an answer you can read yourself — there is no hidden score and no proprietary index you have to take on faith.
Because model answers drift from run to run even when nothing on your site has changed, one check is a snapshot rather than a verdict. The signal comes from repeating the same questions over weeks and watching the line, which is why monitoring exists and why we say so plainly instead of selling a single impressive number.
The fixes we return are the boring, verifiable kind: a server-rendered page where the content was previously behind JavaScript, Schema markup that matches what is actually on the page, a title that answers the question people ask, an llms.txt that points AI readers at the right pages. Nothing in that list is a trick, and all of it is work you could do yourself — we find what is missing and hand you the file.
What we will not claim
- We do not promise that any assistant will start recommending you. We report what the models say and what to fix; the models decide the rest.
- We do not contact the model providers on your behalf, and there is no paid placement in AI answers to buy — from us or from anyone.
- We do not publish invented reviews, ratings or customer counts anywhere on this site, including in its markup.
- We do not claim to measure Google rankings. Different surface, different tools, and mixing them up helps nobody.
Reaching a human
Support, billing and privacy requests all go to the same address, and a person answers them: support@tobecited.com. The service is operated from Spain (European Union); the operator’s legal identification details are available on request, and the terms that govern use of the service are on the Terms page.
